OOC: Open to anyone and everyone! Kris was putting up the last of the christmas decorations for the party. She'd decided to host the giant family get together this year, and she couldn't have been more excited. She loved having her family around - her kids and grandkids, and all of her friends and their kids. Granted, it made the Burrow super cramped, but she loved it nonetheless. Emma and Ron were with some of the younger kids decorating the huge tree that took up a lot of the living room. Emma couldn't reach some of the higher areas, and neither could ron, but Ron was the more resourceful one, taking to climbing the furniture to get where he needed to go. "RON! Really, dude?" came Alana's voice as she set a box of ornaments down on the floor by the tree. "Really, Alana?" he scoffed. "Like you wouldn't have done the same thing," he said. "Correction. Haven't, not wouldn't. But it's not going to end well for you, take it from someone who has some experience," Alana said. Ron laughed at her, but it laugh was cut off as his feet slipped off the back of the couch and he fell onto the floor, knocking off a bunch of ornaments. The younger kids [hope, roxana, renee, etc] erupted into a chorus of whining and laughing at Ron, who sat up, being completely fine aside from a bruised ego. ooc: will add in other charries later, but assume that they're all there

Josepha walked into the room, stepping out of the fireplace which for a brief moment had expanded to hold her. In one hand she was holding a Christmas basket - a gift for her hostess. Her other hand was dusting off her white fur shawl from the particles that had drifted onto her expensive attire during her travel. Her eyes met Kris'. "Well hello dear! So sorry I'm late. I was called in at the ministry for some nonsense about a level 4 creature being smuggled... blah blahhh... what it comes down to is they wanted someone to magically wave away their problems. Anyways, I'm here now. This is for you" she said handing over the basket, then she gentle pulled Kris in to kiss her cheeks. "You know I love a good party. It seems every year they get bigger and bigger. Luckily, the weather is pretty nice so the kids can play outside" then she saw a bunch of kids still swarming in the living room "Well, I guess whether they will or not is another matter entirely"
Suzu was holding a big glass of butter beer when she stumbled into the living room just in time to see Ron crash onto the floor scattering ornaments and causing hysteria in the little runts of the family. "What are you dorks doing? You are making a mess" she tipped toed thru all the kids with her knee high, black stiletto boots. When she reached Ron she said "Want some twerp? ... oh wait... better not..." she forgot it wasn't simply butter beer in her glass. Suzu had been drinking more. She had been trying to hide it from her parents but they probably had their suspicions. SHe was suffering from the blues of being lonely ... the fact that it was Christmas and she had to see all her loved ones nuzzling up with their lovers and seeing all their kids skipping around merrily just made her very inwardly depressed about being single.

Kris smiled warmly, seeing her friend. She knew if Josepha was there, it would't be long before probably a third of london showed up. Both women had quite large extended families that kind of entertwined with each other as time passed on. "I'm glad you could make it! No worries about being late, i think we're still waiting on a few people as it is," she said, taking the basket. "Oh, this is lovely, thank you!" she added, and hugged Josepha. She could hear the commotion from the other room, and frowned. "One second, sounds like Ron's stirring up the little ones again. I swear, one day i'm going to wake up completely grey from that boy," she said, and went in to calm the other children. Ron rolled his eyes at his older sister. "I just got them going, it's not like i crashed the tree on them or anything," he said, reaching for the butter beer that Suzu offered, but then she took it away. He really didn't care anyways, with it being a party night, there was plenty of butter beer in the house, he didn't need Suzu's. Granted, he didn't know that it was spiked with something else, but he wasn't that concerned. Emma had started to calm the other kids when she saw the interaction with Ron and Suzu. She wondered why Suzu had done what she'd done, but didn't say anything. She'd caught suzu a couple of times during the holiday season with a little more to drink than usual, but didn't know if she should say anything, so she kept it to herself. Dorothy came into the dining room from the kitchen, setting a tray of cookies on the table. She'd been over for a while, helping her mother set up for the party. She had Ruby with her, who was more distracted texting boys than helping. Ruby eventually wandered off to the living room immersed in conversation. OOC: again, will add more charries as the thread progresses

Josepha laughed as she watched Kris walk away to go calm the children in the other room. She definitely knew how that went having a very large family herself. While Kris was away she went over to a mirror on the wall to check out her makeup and adjust her hair. Josepha believed in looking your best when at a social event.
Suzu gave Ron a noogie but almost fell over doing it "You are lucky... the only son. Gives you a lot of freedom to just be doesn't it?" Suzu had a tendency to get philosophical when she had alcohol in her system. Suzu saw Emma look her way. Emma was the one that replaced her as the baby sister of the family... she was always so cute and pleasant. Suzu knew that Emma was naturally full of wit and always very observant. It made her feel watched, judged and guilty... all feelings she didn't like to feel. "Got something to say Princess" she said with more than a hint of jealousy. That's when she heard a high pitched giggle. She turned to see some happy happy couple making out under some mistletoe "Mistletoe! How wonderful. How beautiful. It looks lovely" she said taking a large gulp of her butter beer. It wasn't just the fact that she was single. It was the fact that her boyfriend, her now ex boyfriend decided to break up with her just shy of two weeks before Thanksgiving. Needless to say she hadn't recovered and had been spiraling into depression ever since.
Phin saw Dorothy and Ruby come into the dinning room with a plate of cookies. Phin grabbed a handful and then noticed how Ruby was intensely texting on her phone. "Oh no... Ruby... you aren't are you?" he shoved a cookie in his mouth, it almost instantly dissolved in his mouth "you're not texting Donny are you? That weirdo... with the nose ring?" his concerned face then turned into a chuckle and he had to turn his head to avoid getting cookie all over Ruby since it was splattering out of his mouth from his uncontrollable later. He wiped his mouth "Like what's with that? Is that kid like a bull or something. " then he started digging his feet into the floor to immitate a bull about to charge.

After several minutes, Kris returned. The sounds from the living room seemed to be calmer as the kids resumed their normal activities. Compared to what she dealt with running the school, this was nothing...and for that Kris was grateful. Despite the school being on holiday break, she still had to go in a little bit each day due to the kids who stayed behind instead of going home for the holidays. Some years Kris had even invited students to her home, but with the whole family home this year there wasn't room.
Ron laughed a little when Suzy attempted to give him a boogie, but stopped when she almost fell over. Something was up, he just didn't know what. "dude, you okay?" He asked. He laughed off what she said about him being the only boy, but was still a touch concerned. "maybe you should sit down before you fall over," he suggested. Emma shrunk back a little when Suzu asked if she had something to say. Emma wanted to bring up her sisters strange behavior, but instead shook her head. "no..." She said meekly.
Ruby turned a bright shade of red at phin's comment. "what, no!" She said, embarrassed. She continued to turn red as phin began to make fun of the boy(who she actually was texting but she'd never admit it).
Kyla had been in a corner of the living room, reading a book. At this point in the evening, she really wasn't all that interested in anything going on. She hadn't spotted her parents or brother yet, so she didn't know if they had arrived. She figured they we're still at home trying to convince Tabitha, Kyla's mother, to come to the party.
Elle was next to arrive, her daughter Olivia in tow. The 6 year old was distracted by the tree and ran off almost immediately to join the other kids while Elle scanned the room to see who was there.
Dorothy had migrated into the dining room, where she spotted her husband. "ah, there you are," she said with a smile. Her typically orange-red hair was streaked in red and green, and a white and brown headband with reindeer antlers on them sat atop her head thanks to some assistance from her younger sister alana. Dorothy loved Christmas, so it wasn't unusual for her to go all out for it and be silly from time to time.
Ooc: if there's a specific charrie I haven't gotten to that you want, lemme know and I'll toss them in the next reply

Links I need to remember the basics: hwartsbeyond.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rc&thread=108&page=1#311hwartsbeyond.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=hbe&action=display&thread=109Josepha smiled warmly when Kris came back. "What are the children up to in there? I believe most of my family is here ... somewhere... Perhaps they are upstairs... or outside playing Quidditch... I try to keep track of them. I try so very hard. In the end I always have a migraine that medicine and magic could not even begin to cure" she laughed lightly "But that is life with a big family. Am I right?" she gave Kris a dashing little wink as she fixed one more hair in the mirror before moving closer, very close to Kris "Sweetie you look a bit tired. I mean that in the kindest way. You love absolutely amazing but a bit tired. I can only tell because I am a bit intuned to your needs being a friend for so long". She hoped she had insulted Kris. She was merely worried for her health and happiness. "Have you spent much time at Hogwarts during the holiday? You know dear there is more than enough staff there to tend to the children who must stay. You need to take it easy" she tried giving Kris a reassuring smile. Suzu squinted her eyes at Ron. "Of course I'm okay. I'm more than okay. I'm quite dandy can't you tell. My life, this very moment is absolutely perfect. I can't wait to remember it next Christmas" she started laughing a bit like a crazy person. She started to move away from her siblings but she stumbled to the floor just shy of reaching the next room. Phin could tell by her response that she was indeed texting Donny the Bull. "What could you two possibly be talking about? Hmmmmm" he put his hand to chin in a thinking pose "Oh well he was probably raised in a barn... you were raised in a burrow. It's all very fitting after all". He shoved in another cookie "I can see why he is attracted to you. That bright red hair really gets a bull going... if you know what I mean". He then completely died of laughter at his own wit. "Do your parents know about our good mate Donny? I'm very sure they would just love him, ring and all" Gerard spotted Kyla reading alone and went over to her "What book are you reading tonight? Hopefully something that won't put you to sleep" he laughed "You do realize we are at a party right? Were you expecting to sit alone the whole night. You should know by now there is too many of us. We couldn't be alone even if we really wanted to be". Gerard wasn't blood related to Kyla but he always thought of her as nothing less than a full blood cousin. Traffords were 100 percent family in his book. Viggo was discussing a recent quidditch game with Ian. Both were very passionate about their interpretation of the event. When Viggo realized his wife had arrived he politely excused himself from the conversation. "Elle, you look stunning" he firmly embraced her and kissed her head gently. "Where is Olivia?" he wondered. He hoped she hadn't caught the bug that had been going around this year. Jack was currently sitting on the floor. He had been enlisted by his nephew Albus (6 yr old son of Lyra) to tie his shoes because it was task he still struggled with on occasion, particularly when his fingers were cold from playing in the chill of winter. He heard his wife before he saw her. Jack looked up to see the glorious vision of his true love standing before him. He smiled warmly at her and then looked back at Albus "Well it looks like you are all set my man". Albus laughed "Thanks Uncle Jack". Albus was sprinting away when Jack caught hold of his shirt "Hey wait. You have to give me 20 before you." When the manly handshake was over Jack stood up and hugged his wife. "And what have you been up to this evening dearest?"

"My son decided to be a daredevil and knocked a bunch of stuff off the tree with his antics," Kris chuckled. "I know several of someone's kids are outside, but who, i'm not sure of," she added before she heard josepha mentioned how tired Kris looked. Kris sighed, moving a piece of hair out of her face. "I know there's plenty of staff, but I still like to check in. i've been in almost every day...You know how some of the parents are if it seems like i'm 'absent' from the school," she added. She knew josepha was just being worried, but sometimes it just seemed like too much. She never let it show though, she couldn't do that to her friend. "I'm fine, I swear," she said with a small smile. "We're going to take a little mini-vacation to france next week, so i'll definitely get some relaxation time," she laughed.
Ron gave a confused look at Suzu's comments, brushing them off until she fell onto the floor trying to leave the room. "See, you say you're okay, but you're falling all over the place. That's not exactly the definition of okay," he observed. A few other people had witnessed the situation and were looking as well. Emma went over, holding out her hand to Suzu, to help her up. "Why don't you sit down for a minute?" she suggested quietly. "I can get you some coffee or something," she added. She was honestly worried for her older sister, a person that Emma really looked up to. Well, she used to anyways. It seemed like over the last few weeks there had been a notable change in Suzu, but since Suzu wouldn't talk about it, Emma tried not to push the issue.
Ruby shot Phin a look of annoyance. "We're just talking about how our breaks have been. Jeesh," she said, not finding any of this funny. So what if he had a nose ring? He wasn't a bad person. However, when Phin made his comment about the burrow, Ruby's annoyance turned to anger. "That's not funny, Phin!" she said, unsure if he could hear her over all his laughter. "Sorry I wasn't raised in a freaking mansion like you, but my home is just fine, and at least I know better than to crack a joke about where someone's raised!" she said, raising her voice. The comment really upset her, and she ran from the room, trying to hide the tears that were starting to well up in her eyes. Phin was family, but he sure knew how to push her buttons, and she wondered if sometimes he didn't realize what he was doing, how he was upsetting people. Enough people at school picked on her for everything from her red hair to her house, and after a while, Weasley jokes get old, even from family. She pushed past several adults, including Kenji and Dorian, and sat down in a corner of the den, resting her head on her knees as she pulled her legs up to her chest.
Kyla looked up, hearing someone talk to her. It was Gerard, and she gave a friendly smile. "It's just a book on Auror History," she said, holding up the book so he could see the cover. "Papa[tabby's dad] got it for me for christmas, and I couldn't wait to start reading it," she said. They had had their christmas with Tabby's side the night before - it was still so weird to not see Tabitha's mother around, but she had passed earlier in the year. Kyla heard him ask if she knew they were at a party, and laughed. "Well, i know that. Just don't feel much like mingling quite yet," she explained. Kyla may have been the most outgoing of the Trafford family, but she still had her reservations, a bit of social anxiety in a sense. "I know eventually i'll have to, though," she added, closing her book and tucking it into the messenger bag on the side of the couch. There was a silence for a moment while Kyla observed her surroundings. "You haven't seen my parents or brother yet, have you?" she asked curiously. She knew any type of party was hard for Tabby, so Kyla had figured that they'd probably show up later. OOC: I think i'll add tabby in after you add braeden in.
Elle smiled warmly when Viggo approached her. "Thank you, I told you i'd find the perfect outfit for this that wasn't a quidditch uniform," she said with a small laugh as her husband kissed her head. "Granted, soon the quidditch uniforms won't fit for a little bit," she said, only loud enough for him to hear. So far, Viggo was the only one who knew about Elle being pregnant, the couple just finding out the happy news earlier in the week. They had tossed around the idea of announcing it at the party around many of their friends, but she wasn't 100% sure if they had made a decision or not. Elle had taken a leave from the team until after the baby was born, so she knew she would have a lot of free time soon, aside from the fact that her sudden leave would probably mean the whole wizarding world would know the news about the quidditch star in no time. It would take some getting used to all the extra time, she knew that much. She heard him as where Olivia was. "Oh, she's over with some of the other kids. You know how much that girl loves christmas trees and ornaments," Elle said with a small laugh. Viggo had brought out a whole new side of Elle over the years. The woman who shut herself off from the world for so long seemed warmer. The walls she had up were starting to break down, and it showed. It still took her a bit to warm up to new people at times, but at least now she seemed approachable.
Dorothy smiled back at Jack, watching him interacting with Albus. He had always been good with the millions of children that ran though over the years, but she still loved watching him. She wrapped her arms around him as he hugged her, asking what she'd been up to. "Oh, the usual - baking, decorating. You know mum sometimes gets a little overwhelmed with all the prep work," she said. "I was able to slip out for a moment to watch the kids playing quidditch, but it's so cold out there. I don't know how those kids stand it," she said with a small laugh. "What have you been doing? I haven't seen you in a bit," she asked, pushing back a red curl that had escaped from the braid she had her hair in. OOC: I had said alana, but I can use dori. Alana's looking for sol, though, haha
Hope was in the den with some of the older kids, playing video games. She didn't know a lot about the game that was being played, but she seemed to be holding her own well enough. Well, until her brother Ethan came, taking the controller out of her hands. "Hey!" she protested, trying to grab the controller back, but Ethan just held it over her head. He was so much taller than his little sister, it wasn't hard to pick on her every now and then. "hey, you kept my spot for me, and now i'm back. You knew the deal, midget," he said, jumping back into the game. "Hmmph," hope pouted, and left the room to go see how the quidditch game outside was going. the 10 year old grabbed her coat and mittens, getting ready to go out in the cold weather.

Josepha laughed at Kris calling her son a daredevil. "Boys will be boys, I always say" she added with a closed mouth smile. As Kris began to explain about her stress of being the Headmistress of Hogwarts, Josepha noticed a spot on her blouse she kept scratching at hoping it would make it better. When Josepha heard mention of France she couldn't hold make a tiny squeal and gave a little clap "France?! How wonderful. You will have an absolutely delightful time! I'm so pleased to hear this grand scheme. Is it just you and Kenji that will be going? What part of France are you going to? Will you be staying among wizards or a muggle hotel?" Josepha loved hearing about traveling, it always sparked her interest.
Suzu was thoroughly embarrassed by the situation. As much as she didn't want to take Emma's hand she accepted it anyways. She let her little sister take her over to the couch "I can't stay here. Everyone is watching me" she said almost in a whisper to her sister. Suzu want to cry but she was holding it in. She felt so dumb and judged by those wandering eyes wondering what she was going to do next. "I need fresh air. Will you take me outside Emma?". Suzu had adverted her eyes from her sister, she was too embarrassed to look her in the eye after that painful horrible situation. After a short pause she added "Please" and made eye contact for half a second before looking back down at her feet.
At first Phin was pleased he was pushing his cousin's buttons. It was always a bit fun to tease his siblings and cousins in this way. Then things went wrong and Ruby began to get not only extremely defensive but was about ready to crumble into a million pieces - a mess he didn't want to clean up. Phin's jaw dropped a bit, unsure of how to take back what he did. Before his mind could take it all in Ruby ran off and he was left alone, stumped at what had just happened. Phin decided he had to try to fix this… even if he couldn't. He walked in the direction he saw her go… hoping he'd find her.
Dorian saw his granddaughter run past and decided to go investigate. When he finally reached Ruby she was sitting in the corner of the den, her knees to her chest - the typical damsel in distress pose he knew very well having experienced it with his daughters and other granddaughters. He was always impressed with how ladies were able to convey strong emotion with body language alone. Dorian got down and sat indian style beside his young granddaughter. He put his hand on her shoulder, pushing back her lovely red hair. "What is the matter my beautiful princess? What troubles such a dear thing like you?"
Gerard shook his head "No I haven't seen your family around yet…." there was an awkward pause "How is your mom doing… about you know…" he didn't want to say the words. He knew she would understand "more importantly though… how are you doing? I know losing…. people… it's hard." Gerard knew it was a difficult topic to discuss but he was concerned about Kyla and whether or not she was coping with the situation.
Viggo could never stop smiling when Elle was around. He laughed out loud when Elle said that Olivia was playing with the Christmas ornaments "That's our girl. Beauty loves beauty. That's why she always goes for the ornaments with an extra sparkle". He put his hand gently on his wife's cheeks. "She looks more and more like you with every passing day. I couldn't be happier about that. I know that this precious one" he moved his hand to her abdomen "is going to be just as blessed with good looks because of you" he chuckled "definitely not because of me". He then frowned a bit "I know that we discussed announcing the news tonight… but…. I think we should take a trip to Bulgaria and tell the my parents first… since they won't be here tonight. Would that be ok with you?" he raised his eyebrows in curiosity hoping he hadn't disappointed her.
Jack chuckled "What have I been doing? Oh you know… this and that … and a whole lot of nothing in between. Talking to that person and this person and sitting on the floor tying children's shoes. The real question is, what are we going to do now that I have you in grasps" he gave her a mischivious flirty smile.
OOC: how old are hope and ehtan now… did you want me to add a kid into that scenario?

Kris chuckled. She knew josepha loved hearing about various travels. "It's just going to be me and Kenji. We've not had time to ourselves in a while, and luckily the kids are okay with it. Emma's planning on staying here, and Ron's going to go catch a quidditch game," she explained. She then thought for a minute. Aside from the fact they were going to paris, they really hadn't planned out much else. "We decided to go to Paris. It's not a long trip, just a long weekend type deal," she added happily. The more she talked about the trip, the more excited she was. "That's all we have planned, really. Nothing too extravagant," she said, and laughed.
Internally, Emma was grateful that Suzu had accepted her help. She could see people's attention starting to drift towards the pair, and the situation could easily spiral out of control. Emma was about to suggest the two going elsewhere when suzu asked if emma could take her outside. "Yeah, I can do that," she said with a nod, and carefully navigated her older sister to the sliding door that lead to the porch and backyard. The cold air stung at emma's face almost immediately, but luckily she wasn't that cold due to the heavy sweater dress she was wearing. Emma noticed Suzu avoiding her gaze, and emma frowned a bit. "Are you okay?" she asked quietly after a few moments of silence. "You haven't been yourself for a while…" she added quietly.
Ruby felt someone sit down next to her and move her hair out of her face. She quickly looked over and noticed it was her grandfather, and he was asking what was the matter. "Stupid Phin's the matter," she sniffled, wiping her eyes with her shirt sleeve. "Why does he always have to pick on me?!" she asked, frustrated. "So what if there's a boy i like, he doesn't have to act like an ass," she added angrily, balling and unballing her fists. Ruby wasn't exactly most boys' first choice. She was full of personality, but she was awkward. She knew just how to completely embarrass herself, and at 14, not many people found that cute or endearing. People were fine being her friend, but that was about it. So when people picked on her, it was like driving a knife into her back. But Donny seemed different. Like maybe someone who liked her as more than a friend, and she was trying her hardest to not scare him off.
Kyla shrugged. "She's doing as well as she possibly can, I guess…" she said just as awkwardly. It was no secret that there was something off about Kyla's mother. There always had been, as far as Kyla knew. It's part of the reason she wanted to be an auror so badly. She wanted to protect her mother, make her not be afraid of the world. She heard Gerard's question, and just nodded. "I'm okay," she said after a moment. She really didn't know how she was. She loved her grandmother dearly, but she had been ill. It was to be expected. She heard some noise from the fireplace and noticed her younger brother, Derek come through the fireplace, as well as her mother. "Finally! There you are!" she said with a small smile, standing up from her spot on the couch. "Is dad coming too?" she asked as Derek brushed some soot off of his hoodie. "As far as I know, he is. He should be here any minute," Derek said, and waved hello to Gerard. Tabitha slowly made her way over to Kyla and hugged her. Years of physical injuries had made it a little harder for her to move, and everything else just made her paranoid of everything. The fact that she had even made it to the party was a heck of an accomplishment.
Elle smiled at Viggo's comment. He had really taken Olivia on as one of his own, and she couldn't had been more grateful for it. When he moved his hand from her cheek to her stomach, she felt her heart skip a beat. Her pregnancy with Olivia had been kept so under wraps so that it wouldn't be yet another scandal in her tumultious past, that she had to sometimes remind herself that this was a good thing. Luckily, Viggo was so excited that she didn't have to worry too much. "Come on now, you're not that bad looking yourself," she said with a small laugh, leaning into him slightly. She heard him voice concerns about waiting to announce the pregnancy until they could tell his family, and nodded. "Of course we can wait," she said with a warm smile. She wasn't going to lie - she was a bit disappointed. But she understood. And she was okay with that. "When did you want to go and see them?" she asked, looking up at him. "We probably shouldn't wait too long, people will probably start asking questions when I start showing," she said, a free hand making its way to her stomach, which had already started to bulge out a little.
Dorothy laughed. "Well that's awfully vague," she said, amused. She heard him ask what they were going to do, and shot her a flirty smile, and she laughed again. "Well, we should start with this," she said, pointing to some mistletoe that was hovering above their heads on the doorframe. She leaned in to jack with a small giggle, kissing him.
OOC: Hope is 10, I think Ethan is 13. And yeah, you could add a kid or two to the situation. Or even an adult who is a big kid at heart, haha.
